Texas A&M's recently-extended head coach Mike Elko keeps on showing that he's exactly the right man for this job. Even his new contract details show that he's committed to building this program in the right ways— as did his postgame comments following Texas A&M's unbelievable comeback over the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Elko has led his team to a lot of things this year, and there were some very high hopes for Aggie fans down the stretch, but I don't think many believed that they would pull off the biggest comeback win in school history. They've been such a force that it seemed impossible for them to face such a deficit— but that's exactly what we just saw.

They came out and played perfectly in the second half, though, and you could tell from Elko's postgame comments that he himself is beginning to believe that this team can accomplish something special. Here's what he had to say on his team and the comeback.

Mike Elko glowing about his team's 'unbelievable grit' after unprecedented comeback

"Yeah, I think unbelievable grit. Unbelievable togetherness. Obviously they played bad to start the game, that starts it, but they don't blink. They've been in a lot of these situations. We found ways to find wins. No one panicked on our sideline. We just went out and made a heck of a lot of plays in the second half."

That's a coach that believes in his team. That's a coach that knows he has championship DNA in his squad this year. The ability to mentally conquer the Goliath that you're staring down coming out of half, knowing that the other team has every advantage on that front, is maybe the most impressive part of this.

But with a guy like Mike Elko helming the program, it's really not that much of a surprise. The defensive genius is showing that he is also a master motivator, as his halftime speeches become more and more mythical with each passing game.

Whatever he said to them at the half clearly is exactly what was needed, as this game will go down as one of the most notable moments of the year no matter what happens.
