Mike Elko delivered the news that no Texas A&M fan wanted to hear in his press conference today, as he confirmed that Le'Veon Moss would miss a "significant" period of time following an injury against the Florida Gators this past weekend.
Elko announced RB Le'Veon Moss will miss "a significant period of time" with an injury that is "unrelated" to his injury last year.

Elko confirmed that it's an ankle injury, which is a "positive" sign.
"It will not end his season, but it'll be a significant period of time."
It had been previously reported that Moss had avoided a season-ending injury, which is an obvious positive, but there was no timeline attached to that piece of news. That left fans wondering whether he would be out until a possible postseason game, or if he could be back after the Aggies' upcoming bye— but Elko's update has all but killed that optimism.
It's still a massive plus that Moss will be back at some point this season, but the fact that it is not going to be until later is a bummer for Texas A&M. Losing him to injury last year was correlated really strongly with the Aggies' win-loss record dropping off, so they need to get him back as soon as possible.
Mike Elko remains confident even through blow of losing Le'Veon Moss for "significant" time
Even so, Mike Elko was still projecting confidence in his presser today. He spoke about the depth of the stable of backs that the Aggies still have, expressing confidence in Rueben Owens, EJ Smith, and even freshman Jamarion Morrow, who has been flashing more and more over recent weeks. It seems like the Aggie head man is highly pleased with what Trooper Taylor has been doing at A&M and is confident in the other players on the roster.
Still, this is a tremendous challenge that they're facing. Elko opened his presser by speaking about how formidable Petrino's offense can be, mentioning that they have the second-fewest punts in the conference so far in the season— they score in bunches, in other words.
He praised their defense as well, mentioning that they have simplified things since firing DC Travis Williams, and that that streamlining will cause them to play faster each and every week. As he mentioned, the Aggies will "have [their] hands full."
Overall, though, he seemed undaunted about the upcoming challenge of three road games. He mentioned that, though they were all road games, the actual distance was not that far, given that they're all relatively nearby— especially these first two— and was happy about getting a bye in the middle of them.
Texas A&M has a lot on their plate ahead of them over the next three weeks, but their head man looks ready for the challenge. It's time to show that this team really can finish— and that gauntlet begins this Saturday.
