In the battle of Aggies versus Aggies, the Texas A&M Aggies defeated Utah State in another convincing win to go to 2-0 on the young season. KC Concepcion continued to look like a superstar in his second Aggies contest, as him and Marcel Reed have looked like one of the finest connections in the SEC. It wasn't all rainbows and unicorns for the Aggies though, as fans were holding their breath, hoping for their starting quarterback to be OK.
Reed suffered a big hit against Utah State which forced him to go into the locker room at the end of the third quarter. Initial reports from SEC Network reporter Alyssa Lang showed plenty of promise that Reed probably just needed some minutes to recover.
This was the safe bet to leave Reed in the locker room to rest him for the remainder of the game. Mike Elko kept it brief, but was able to be as straight up as he could regarding the status of Reed and Trey Zuhn III, respectively. Here's a bit of what Mike Elko had to say.
Mike Elko on the status of Marcel Reed and Trey Zuhn III
"Anticipate Trey and Marcel being fine. Trey could've come back, we chose not to, just because of the way the game was being played. I fully anticipate Marcel will be fine for next week.
Mike Elko on Marcel Reed's playing style against Utah State
"A little bit choppy in the vertical passing game, it was nice to see him connect on the one to Mario in the second half...I thought he did a really good job in the RPO game, I thought they gave us a lot of open access and he took it."
Mike Elko on focusing now and next week
"We probably could've done a little bit better job of focusing start to finish the way we needed to but, I think we know what's around the corner."
