Texas A&M fans have been much more pleased with Mike Elko's regime so far than they were at the end of the Jimbo Fisher era. That was almost a guarantee, of course, as Texas A&M really had nowhere to go but up, but Elko has really done a great job of tightening up the ship so far.
In a recent interview with Chris Low of On3, Elko opened up about how things have changed in College Station even over the past year. It really sounds like there has been a complete 180 in how things are going, which is just what Texas A&M fans wanted out of their new coach.
Texas A&M coach Mike Elko is preparing the Aggies for the future in the way every program wants
With how hectic and quickly-changing the landscape of college football is, any fan wants a head coach who is right in the middle of things, making sure he is abreast of the latest changes in the sport. No matter the transfer portal, high school recruiting, staffing decisions, or even nutrition information, a head coach that has a strong vision for his program in all these areas is what teams need as they move forward.
Mike Elko is exactly that for the Aggies. As Low mentions in a recent podcast appearance, he is "right in the middle" of everything in the program's day-to-day, not just the larger vision:

Texas A&M has already made several staffing changes this offseason that are a result of that vision that Elko has for the program, and they appear to be poised to consequently take huge strides. Elko's changes over the last offseason helped the Aggies make strides in the areas where they needed, and fans shouldn't be surprised if it happens again.
With the moves that the Aggies made in the transfer portal this offseason, they have another chance to get to the College Football Playoff this year. With Elko at the helm, it looks like that is going to be a perennial reality in College Station,.
