One of the biggest reasons to believe that Texas A&M will be an improved team this fall is the upgrade they have had at the receiver spot. There wasn't a lot of juice in the receiver corps this past fall, and you could tell that the pass game struggled because of it.
The biggest name that the Aggies brought in was Kevin "KC" Concepcion out of NC State, an electric receiver in the mold of an Ainias Smith, if maybe a little more physically suited for higher levels of football. KC was ranked as a top portal prospect by every service that attempts to put out such rankings, showing how highly-regarded he was and what a massive victory it was for A&M to get him.
At least, that was the case when he came out. Now, one of the services that was apparently so high on him has apparently decided to quietly go back on their ranking— otherwise, what's the explanation for this supposed "all-transfer" team?
On3 mystifyingly leaves KC Concepcion off of all-transfer team despite being a top-10 portal player
On3 put out this graphic early this morning:
NEW: On3 College Football Preseason All-Transfer Portal Team🔥

Do you agree? 🤔https://t.co/HiXxLZp3wU pic.twitter.com/8JzE7s6o48
Concepcion was ranked as the third-highest receiver in these ratings by On3. So how come he isn't in the top three here?
The complete absence of logic doesn't end with KC, either: Georgia transfer WR Zach Branch, coming in from USC, was the second-highest player here, but didn't make this all-transfer team. Is this On3's way of saying they think these players won't put up as many yards or touchdowns?
Confusingly, too, they had Nic Anderson— who also transferred to LSU— ranked ahead of Barion Brown, but they didn't include him either. Malachi Fields is all the way down at 34th overall— KC is 8th, for the record— and he somehow made this "all-transfer team."
It's just mystifying how an outlet like this puts out a list that looks this way. If you're not following your own rankings, then what are you following? It can't be camp buzz, as every indication has been that KC is every bit of the receiver that they were hoping and more.
It's not worth getting bent out of shape about, but it's another data point in the "A&M is being slept on" narrative. The Aggies have a chance to wake some people up in a major way this fall.
