NFL insiders' new chapter for Mike Evans is a narrative that he's bound to defy

The Texas A&M legend is far from done.

Former Texas A&M star receiver Mike Evans just needed five yards to continue his historic streak of 11th straight 1,000 yard season since entering the league in 2014. In one of the most bizarre NFL moments in recent history, Baker Mayfield passed to Evans on a short out route, where Evans made a catch and a cut up the middle to get to 1,000 yards once again.

It should've been an easy victory formation, but Evans has the respect of his peers to get one final shot to keep his streak alive.

Now, as he tries to go for his 12th straight season of that same feat, NBC Sports' Mike Florio made a video with Chris Simms on NFL players that will look to defy Father Time. They made the video in honor of Evans turning 32.

Evans will no doubt defy the odds of so-called Father Time

Did we forget about Tom Brady playing football at age 45? We're not saying Evans will play more than 13 years more years in the league, but Evans' career has been one of more consistent we've ever seen. In terms of longevity, Evans might be the second most consistent receiver long-term— and that would be only short of Jerry Rice.

Evans joined Rice to tie him with 11 straight 1,000 yard seasons, as Rice as 14 of those years overall. Evans might just break that one day, but he's got to stay on the field.

The only reason why father time might beat them, and why Evans almost lost his rare streak was because he suffered a hamstring injury, forcing him to miss three games in the regular season. It always looks like the former Aggie is on par to get 1,000 yards, but he must stay on the field in order to pass Rice.

The subject here is Father Time, and barring a catastrophe, it seems like there's no doubt Evans can maintain his consistent work ethic. The real question is if he can one day pass Rice for 14 seasons of 1,000 yards.
