Texas A&M's most visible alumnus in the NFL, Myles Garrett, is in the midst of a career renaissance right now. His recent deal that he signed with the Cleveland Browns was the largest in league history at his position when he signed it, and considering his recent Defensive Player of the Year win, he is clearly one of the top defenders in the entire league.
Every further development only confirms that status. In this modern world of football, one of the most anticipated and highly-renowned lists is that of the players who earn a 99 overall rating in the latest Madden football game— a select club— and Garrett has made the cut this year.

He's joined by Lane Johnson, Lamar Jackson, Ja'Marr Chase, Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson, and Josh Allen. It's interesting that Patrick Mahomes is not on the list (though he didn't exactly have a banner year in 2024), given that he is a clear top player in the league, but it also demonstrates just how selective this list is.

This is just more great publicity for a defensive end who is playing his best ball of his career right now. Though he's part of a franchise right now which isn't exactly positioned to compete for championships (despite his best efforts), he's still being recognized as one of the best in the entire league.
On that note, hopefully Garrett does eventually make his way to a place where he is competing for a championship. Whether Cleveland can buck the trend of their entire history and assemble a contender, or he enters free agency and ends up in a better spot, I think every Texas A&M football fan would love to see him end up with a ring before all is said and done.
