Notable omission on Texas A&M's injury report shows Elko won't let anything slip

Texas A&M football fans were sent into a little bit of a tizzy earlier today with a note from Mike Elko on the SEC coaches' teleconference call. Really, "note" may be too strong of a word, in all honesty: it was more of a non-answer that triggered some speculation about one of the Aggies' best players.

Elko on that call was asked about the Aggies' star wide receiver, KC Concepcion, who was seen on the ESPN broadcast last game limping around after apparently tweaking his hamstring. Concepcion was in and out of the game, but played up until the very end. Elko's response to a question was what had Aggie fans beginning to wonder if it was something serious.

This triggered a lot of BAS for certain fans among the Aggie faithful, but it turns out that was all an exercise in futility. The injury report for the Aggies is nothing but encouraging (aside from what we already know about Le'Veon Moss), and this just shows that Elko is committed to giving his own program every advantage.

Mike Elko won't let anything slip before he has to, but Aggie fans' Concepcion fears are assuaged

The Aggies have a clean bill of health outside of Le'Veon Moss being listed as "out" and freshman tight end Kiotti Armstrong being listed as "questionable":

So why the evasiveness on the teleconference call? Well, what sense does it make to give the Razorbacks any certainty on anything about your team when they may not already have it? Just because they're set to understand it a few hours later when the report comes out doesn't mean that you have to give them that head start.

It's good that Concepcion is ready for this game, as he will no doubt feature prominently in the offense, just as he has every game this season. Without Moss to lean on, Concepcion will become even more important.

This is a key game for the Aggies. They need to set the tone early on this road trip and get an emphatic win over their rivals in the Razorbacks. Concepcion's availability is key to that result.
