Texas A&M baseball player Travis Chestnut doesn't mince words when speaking about outbound coach Jim Schlossnagle

When unceremonious and dishonorable exits like that of Jim Schlossnagle from Texas A&M baseball happen, you expect a level of sour grapes from the fanbase. Schloss has been the target of a heaping helping thereof, as well as scorn from the national media given how he handled things on the way out.

What you don't always expect to see—and something that is a huge red flag—is the man's current players putting him on blast. When Jimbo was dismissed, for example, the players didn't have much bad to say about him as a person.

It appears, though, that Jim Schlossnagle is a different story. Thanks to some crack reporting from the Eagle's Travis Brown, we have a quote from current Aggie player Travis Chestnut elucidating exactly how he feels about Schloss.

Chestnut goes on to praise Mike Earley and Nolan Cain, but wow. Talk about scorched earth.

This gives context to a moment that went a bit unnoticed in the national championship game. During a dugout interview with Schlossnagle following a clutch bunt from Chestnut, Schloss took a shot at his own player, mentioning that he "strikes out all the time." Maybe it was an attempt at humor, but it came off oddly hostile towards a guy on his own team.

Let's be honest: Chestnut isn't exactly a guy in a starring role for the team. His speed is elite, but he has holes in his game that fans have criticized at times. But that makes things even worse; if Schloss is the kind of guy who treats the stars well and is unpleasant to the players he views as lower on the totem pole, then that's a huge red flag. Clearly there was something bad between these two guys, leading to Chestnut giving this quote.
