Five Texas A&M football players with the most to prove in spring football
Which Texas A&M football players come into spring with the most to prove?
If we know one thing about this Texas A&M football team, it is that it is a squad replete with talent. However, the clear caveat, based on the last few years of the Aggies' play, is that the talent has not been fully actualized.
This is a team that is full of potential difference-makers. There are many who already make a difference, yes, but there are lots more guys who simply could be doing more.
Now, this isn't a perfect world—no coaching staff will be able to maximize the talent of every single player on the team. But from what we know about Mike Elko and the staff he has put together, they are good enough to come pretty close.
That's a big hope from the Aggie fanbase this year. The Maroon and White faithful look at what Elko and company were able to accomplish in their first year in Durham—completely turning around a lifeless Blue Devils team—and hope that same kind of enlivening effect can be applied to this Aggie team. In short, if Elko can get Duke talent to 9 wins, Aggie fans think he could get A&M talent to more than that.
For that to happen, though, there will have to be some guys in spring practice who step up. As the poet once said, "things ain't like they used to be." If you want to be part of the new era, you have to embrace the new way.
For Elko, that means being detail-oriented. Not taking reps off. Attacking practice with intensity, no matter where you fall on the roster talent-wise.
So who on the roster will embrace this? Who has the most to prove? Maybe it's not so much changing the way you do things, but stepping up and seizing opportunity. Let's take a look at the five players with a lot to show in this spring camp.
