Ranking Texas A&M football's wins over Arkansas since joining SEC: 2014 (35-28, OT)

I know neither team ended up very good, but this had all the feeling of a true heavyweight fight when it took place. It was big enough, after all, to earn the prime time CBS slot for the week.

The Ags came into this one ranked 6th in the nation. After embarrassing a preseason top-10 South Carolina team and winning their non-conference bouts, A&M was carrying about as much hype as they ever have coming into a game against Arkansas.

The Hogs, for their part, were recommitted to power football under new coach Bret Bielema, and were ready to rough up the gimmicky Aggie defense. It worked for a while—and it also helped that the Hogs scored on one of the more successful fake punts you’ll ever see.

Trailing by 14 in the fourth quarter, though, the Aggies finally got it together and scored on a couple of long bombs—one to Edward Pope and one to Josh Reynolds. Oh, and Arkansas missed a kick.

We went in-depth on this game to recap it earlier this week, so read that if you haven’t. The drama of this game culminated with the defense finally stopping the power run game of the Hogs in overtime, and the Aggies went out on a high.
