Texas A&M football recruiting: Aggies pick up another DB by flipping Rashad Johnson Jr. from Georgia Bulldogs

Texas A&M football is looking to have a big close to their 2025 recruiting class. The Aggies hosted a huge number of top recruits for the game last week, and it seems like the energy and atmosphere has already begun to do its work.

One of those visitors was then-Georgia defensive back commit Rashad Johnson Jr., out of Bushnell, FL. The big, rangy safety who stands at 6'2", 190 LBs, committed to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs back in July.

Johnson is the 21st commitment in the Aggies' class, which is now rated as the eighth-best class in the country with some room to rise. The Aggies are looking to close out on some highly-rated targets currently committed elsewhere—like Lamont Rogers, the big OT committed to Mizzou, who also visited Kyle Field last weekend.

Johnson could be the first of several flips, if everything goes as the Aggies would hope. Of course, a successful season on the field would help things out on that front, but if today is any indication, there's a lot more hope on that front than a lot of fans were thinking after a week full of bemoaning A&M's performance in their first game.

Johnson joins a defensive back class that includes Adonyss Currie, Cobey Sellers, Deyjhon Pettaway, and Jamar Beal-Goines. There's a heck of a lot of speed in that group, which is an element that Elko and company have sought out specifically in this class.
