Three huge overreactions to Texas A&M football's spring game: Noah Thomas will lead the nation in touchdown receptions in 2024

That's right. I'm going there.

Thomas showed us all something big in his first game last year. Against an admittedly hapless New Mexico squad, Thomas put up his own jersey number's worth of touchdown catches throughout the course of the game. Unfortunately, he aggravated an injury in that game that nagged him throughout the rest of the season, hampering his productivity.

Today, he reminded us all the type of player that he can be. Standing at 6'6" and with the speed to rival anyone in the country, he is the consummate downfield threat. Something Klein showed in the game was a package where he caught a little pop pass in the backfield on a sweep play—I can't wait to see more of that.

Most of all, though, he showcased his ability to go up and get the ball on contested catches and to lay out in the end zone. Klein coached the nation's best red zone offense last year, and with a weapon like Thomas at his disposal, I foresee a lot of short-yardage touchdown grabs in the future.

For all those reasons—his contested catch ability, big-play potential, and red zone dominance—I think Thomas will put up a huge number of touchdown catches next year. Enough that he may stand in a class of his own when all is said and done.
