Three takeaways from Texas A&M football vs. Arkansas: Could Noah Thomas be breaking out?

Back before the season began, Mike Elko mentioned that he believed that the Aggies had a number one receiver on their team. Well, definitely against Notre Dame—and in most games since then—fans have been hard-pressed to figure out just who he was talking about.

Different receivers have made plays at different times. Cyrus Allen made something happen in the Florida game. Jahdae Walker caught a touchdown against Bowling Green. But wide receiver success has been hard to come by, for the most part, for the Aggies.

Through it all, though, fans were looking to big Noah Thomas to make things happen in the pass game. He clearly has the potential, but he needs the production to match.

He’s well on his way after this game. Thomas recorded the biggest game of his career against the Hogs, going for 6 catches, 109 yards, and 1 TD. When you consider the fact that this was a performance hampered by some poor downfield throws, as well, you begin to get excited about what he can do with a better deep passer.

A&M needs a threat to emerge in the long game. Thomas can be that guy if he remains consistent. Here’s hoping we see more of this from him going forward.
