Power ranking the SEC after week 12: Georgia jumps, Texas A&M eyes big finish
Power ranking the SEC after week 12: #9 - Arkansas
The Hogs had a chance to knock off Texas this week, but they simply didn’t make the necessary plays. They dropped some interceptable balls and turned the ball over themselves multiple times. Those things swing a game hugely.
They took advantage of the Longhorns’ lack of ability to defend the run, stacking up an eye-popping 69% success rate on the ground, and held the Longhorns to a lowly 40% overall success rate themselves. They played like the better team down in and down out, but in the crucial moments of the game, they were not the team making the plays.
It didn’t help that Ja’Quinden Jackson is clearly still dealing with an injury. Maybe if the Hogs were at 100% in their backfield, things would have looked a little different—but then again, it wasn’t for lack of an ability to run the ball that the Hogs lost this one.
Sam Pittman’s crew just needs to beat Louisiana Tech this week to get to bowl eligibility, but a win at Missouri would be quite the cherry on top for this year. We’ll see if they have the mojo for that big road win.
