Power ranking the SEC after Week 5 - 8: LSU

Finally, LSU’s inability to produce on offense came back to bite them. The Tigers were owed some retribution by Lane Kiffin and company after what they did to the Rebs in Death Valley last year, and that’s exactly what they got.

Brian Kelly’s meltdown press conference after the Tigers barely skated by the Florida Gators looks even sillier now that exactly what those reporters, with whom he was so displeased, were concerned about. The Tigers were held to 57 yards on 22 attempts— a poor showing against a team that you should be far better than on the line of scrimmage.

Garrett Nussmeier was lured into a mistake in this one on what should have been a scoring drive, just as has happened far too many times in big games for the senior Tiger quarterback. That has to concern Brian Kelly and Tiger fans everywhere.

Now, with the Clemson win losing so much of its luster, it’s hard to know exactly what to think of the Bayou Bengals. Their defense once more showed that they struggled with a mobile quarterback, showing that some of the old issues may still be plaguing them. The Tigers once more look pretty unproven as far as contenders go.
