The SEC had several near misses in week nine, but one team announced themselves as the clear number one. That's the team that has been number one in these rankings for quite some time now, of course: the Texas A&M Aggies.

While the rest of the conference struggles and jostles for positioning, Texas A&M is beginning to move into the stratosphere. There's a lot more football to be played, but as of right now, there's some separation there.

That said, though, let's see how the conference shook out after week nine.

The Wildcats somehow mustered 34 points against Tennessee, but it wasn't even close to being almost enough. The Volunteers absolutely rolled against the Wildcats, blowing them out before long in Lexington.

It would seem that Mark Stoops's time is growing short in Lexington— that is, if they have the institutional will to move on from him. This is a program that seems pretty aimless right now, even if they came that close to knocking off Texas last week.

If you want a positive, Cutter Boley had the best game of his career, throwing 5 touchdowns and one interception as well as gaining 330 yards through the air. That's about it for the Wildcats, though: they simply don't have anything going for them at all.
