Tensions erupt between Texas A&M football and Texas staffers ahead of decisive rivalry game

Texas A&M football fans know all too well that, when it comes to the Texas Longhorns, familiarity breeds contempt. And these are two teams that, despite not playing for 13 years, are all too familiar with each other.

The Aggies and Longhorns have no shortage of players who grew up together, played together on little league and high school teams, and are now facing off in the most pivotal game in all of college football.

It's not only the players, though. Despite the coaching staffs not necessarily having such deep ties, they have to face off against each other on the recruiting trail three hundred and sixty-five days a year.

That kind of intense competition can breed some strong dislike. Ahead of the first time this game will be played since 2011, we may have just seen some of that boil over.

Before the game between the Aggies and Longhorns, some Texas and Texas A&M football staffers got into a bit of a scuffle.

This isn't the first time a team has rolled into Kyle Field and attempted to manufacture some mojo like this. LSU did the exact same thing earlier in the year—and we know how that turned out for them.

I didn't have the staffers beginning to tussle on my bingo card, but there you have it. This is the kind of stuff rivalries are made of, and there's no doubt that the tensions will be just as high during the game. Hopefully, it remains contained to the field of play between the whistles—but we've already seen fights break out in more than one game today.
