Fans tuning into College Gameday before Texas A&M football took on the Miami Hurricanes all expected to see Aggie football legend Johnny Manziel join the set as the guest picker for the game, as had been promised in the leadup, but were surprised when it was Alex Caruso who made his way to the desk.

The fallout turned this no-show into a highly-publicized faux pas on the part of Manziel, who took to Instagram recently to defend his own actions, eventually claiming that he was unable to attend because of an illness— despite attending a bout between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua the night before.

Rece Davis, the host of College Gameday, showed that he was not exactly buying that story on the latest episode of the College Gameday Podcast. Along with Pete Thamel, Davis was unafraid to take a shot at Manziel's reasoning in a clip that will surely raise some eyebrows around the nation.

Johnny Manziel's College Gameday debacle takes another turn with Rece Davis's callout

Davis's feathers are still clearly a bit ruffled over the whole incident— understandably so, as an unplanned absence like that likely led to a lot of reshuffling.

"When you go to a fight like that, you've got to be very careful about where you eat breakfast the next morning... because it can leave you ill and give you difficulty in reaching the locales where you are scheduled to be," Davis remarked. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the subtext here.

"[I]s that what the kidsa re calling it these days? A bad breakfast? Anyway, wouldn't cast aspersions anywhere," Davis continued a little later on.

Yikes. This has already been a miniature PR disaster for Manziel, and the look just keeps getting worse for the former Heisman winner. Maybe he did indeed come down with something bad, but for now, given the context, things don't look amazing for him.
