Johnny Manziel, the (in)famous Texas A&M quarterback, was supposed to be the celebrity guest picker on ESPN's College GameDay ahead of the Aggies' first-round College Football Playoff game against the Miami Hurricanes.
However, as the Saturday morning show unfolded, it became clear that Manziel was nowhere near the set, and instead, Aggie basketball star Alex Caruso joined the ESPN cast on the desk.
In true "Johnny Football" fashion, Manziel was apparently a no-show on Saturday after attending the fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua the night before in Miami.
Johnny Manziel misses CFP pre-game appearance
While ESPN didn't comment on Manziel's absence and his team hadn't released any statements by the time the game itself kicked off at 11 a.m. CT, everyone was fairly confused when they saw Caruso on the desk and not the Heisman-winning quarterback.
College GameDay said last night that Johnny Manziel would be today’s celebrity guest picker but now the graphic say it's Alex Caruso. I wonder what happened there.

Leading up to the fight and throughout Friday night, Manziel shared numerous posts on social media, both at his hotel and ringside, including a Bleacher Report graphic about him being scheduled as the guest picker on College GameDay.

Beyond him being the best quarterback in college football during his time at Texas A&M (winning the Heisman Trophy, the Davey O'Brien Award, the Manning Award, and many other honors), he gained a lot of fame for his off-field actions, which weren't always the greatest decisions.
Other than the fact that they weren't expecting to see Caruso on the desk, nobody was all that surprised about Manziel missing the early-morning show, which starts at 8 a.m. CT, after seeing that he had attended the Paul-Joshua fight the night before.
Don't worry, Caruso predicted that the Aggies would defeat the Canes, which Manziel likely would have done as well, despite his clear love for Miami.
