There have been whispers for weeks now about Buzz Williams's status with Texas A&M basketball. The Aggies are not looking to fire their head man, but there has been some talk of the possibility that he has coached his final game in College Station.
That's not exactly a prospect that excites fans, though keeping him in house isn't something that a lot of Aggies would cut a huge check to do at this point— thanks, if nothing else, to his less-than-stellar record in March with the Ags.
While it seemed like most of the smoke had blown over by this point, another round has just gotten kicked up. Now, Aggie fans are asking the question: "will Buzz jump ship"?
Rumors continuing to swirl about possible Buzz Williams exit from College Station
The below post was passed around a lot by Aggie fans ahead of Maryland's loss in the tournament tonight to the Florida Gators:
Don’t be surprised if Maryland loses tonight, Kevin Willard is immediately announced as Villanova’s head coach, and Buzz Williams is immediately announced as Willard’s replacement at UMD.

Won’t say more, just don’t be surprised.
As I mentioned, there has been plenty of smoke about Buzz Williams leaving the Aggies already, though the prospect of him jumping directly to another job has not seemed the most likely. However, the plain idea of him leaving has certainly been on the minds of Aggie fans for a few weeks now.
Looking at the person's profile in question, he doesn't necessarily seem to be an insider. The tweet is certainly phrased in a cryptic way— the "won't say more, just don't be surprised" certainly is at least meant to make the reader think that he has a source on this— but he at least explained his rationale a little further down in the thread.
Yup ‼️ + been rumored to Maryland in the past, is a big fan of the DMV and all of his players at A&M are graduating

So maybe there's some actual intel here, maybe there's not. What there definitely is, though, is a sense among fans outside of Aggie basketball that this could have been Buzz's last dance in College Station for reasons that A&M fans have been whispering about for some time.
Time will tell if this actually comes to fruition. If it does, we can't do much besides wish Buzz well— whatever you think of his fit, I have never doubted that he was giving his all to this place.
