It's no secret at this point that there have been myriad rumblings about Buzz Williams leaving Texas A&M basketball. The current Aggie head man has been with A&M for going on six years now, and there has been some frustration on the Aggies' side of things at a perceived lack of production in the NCAA tournament.
This was supposed to be the year that Buzz made a deep run in the tournament. With an experienced and deep group of seniors, this was the kind of team that Buzz had had success with previously in March Madness.
That notion was quickly corrected when the Aggies lost in the Round of 32. A&M was left to pick up the pieces with a full eight graduates moving on from College Station, and the Aggies have already been active seeking out some portal talent. However, a new report today has Aggie fans raising their eyebrows.
Buzz Williams reportedly seeking to get out of Texas A&M basketball, looking at Maryland
There were rumors last night beginning to crop up that Buzz Williams could be a candidate for the Maryland job if it comes open. However, the perception was that the Terps would come knocking on Buzz's door— not the reverse.
However, the reverse appears to be exactly what is happening, according to a report from Jeff Goodman.

This is a little bit out of left field, at least as far as who is approaching whom. Like I said, there's been talk of Buzz possibly departing for a little bit now, and the specific nugget that it could be Maryland dropped last night.
However, I always found it unlikely that Buzz would depart A&M for another stop. I was more of the mind that Buzz may retire rather than continue on with the Aggies or simply stay put rather than seek somewhere else.
Time will tell just how all this pans out, but there's no real reason to doubt Goodman's version of events here. Whether Buzz is back on the sidelines in College Station next year is still an open question, but it's beginning to look less and less likely.
