Every Texas A&M fan knows that football is the straw that stirs the drink in collegiate athletics. That much is obvious to fans of any school out there. But as exhilarating as college football is, it also has the longest offseason of any sport out there.
In the meantime, fans of a given school are constrained to bickering online about recruiting or football projections— and trust me, there's enough of that to fill the 200-plus day offseason— or take a look at the other sports that their school participates in.
In most cases, there is a big time "other sport" at a given school— sometimes, as with Kentucky or Duke, football is that "other sport." Most of the time, though, it's basketball— but with certain school, especially in the south, it tends to be baseball.
The winter and spring sports have a lot to offer besides those two, but they still garner a lot of excitement. And there's perhaps no school better-suited for some big time spring success this year than Texas A&M.
Texas A&M athletics set to put out elite teams in spring semester

As we've discussed quite a bit, the Aggie baseball team is the unanimous preseason no. 1 team in the nation this year. Packed to the gills with talent and experience, Michael Earley's squad will push for the national championship that eluded them last year.
Buzz Williams has his squad rolling right now as well. The Aggies just jumped up into the top 10 in the AP Poll, and they'll have some huge matchups coming down the pike here soon.
Trisha Ford's softball team has gotten progressively better every single year, and they just made the top 5 in their poll. After a hard-fought regional against Texas ended in an exit for the Aggie softball team last year, A&M will have a chance at redemption this spring.
This could be the best stretch for Aggie athletics that we've seen in quite some time. The Aggies will be in the national conversation in all of these sports, as they well deserve.
