Texas A&M Aggies news: Elko cleaning up on recruiting trail, basketball continues with quiet confidence, and more

Here is your daily roundup of Texas A&M Aggies news for June 20, 2025.

Texas A&M football receives first five-star commitment of 2026 cycle

Even though Texas A&M had one of the best recruiting classes in the nation already before yesterday's events, the Aggies stood out in an odd way: they had yet to bring in a five-star player. Though they were trending for several, they hadn't officially gotten one in the boat.

That changed yesterday around 1:30 central, when five-star CB Brandon Arrington committed, bringing the Aggies a lethal combination of speed and length at the cornerback position. A champion sprinter, Arrington joins Vic Singleton as top-100 cornerback commits for A&M.

Texas A&M football recruiting trending upwards in all facets

That commitment from Arrington was seismic in several ways. It was a massive win over Oregon, to begin with— and it also bumped the Aggies' class up to number two in the nation. They trail only USC, who has twelve more commitments than does A&M at this juncture.

A&M's current commitments have been opening some eyes as well. Four-star quarterback pledge Helaman Casuga finished second at the Elite 11 finals, a result that will be sure to raise his status and nationwide estimation as we go forward.

Bucky McMillan continues to build hype around Aggie basketball

Bucky McMillan took the stage on Wednesday night in Dallas for an Aggie coach's night, and he had a lot of good things to say about the program. McMillan just keeps making great moves since he arrived in College Station, and hype for the program is at an all-time high. He alluded to his recruiting skill and the potential of A&M basketball in this soundbite:

The Ags have one of the most interesting teams in the nation next year, and the Aggie faithful and college basketball fans in general will keep a close eye on Bucky McMillan's squad in 2025.

Quick hitters: Aggie coaches staying hot in transfer portal

Michael Earley has a long row to hoe, but he's getting some momentum in the portal with a recent commitment: Ethan Darden, an intriguing pitcher out of Clemson is the latest name. Aggie fans have their eyes open for an even bigger name which could come down soon.

Trisha Ford raided the southeast as well, picking up Paslie Allen from Georgia. Allen will look to bolster an Aggie program that finished as the top overall national seed this past year but stumbled in their regional matchup against Liberty.

Ford also snagged a pair of players from Oklahoma State in Micaela Wark and Edwards Tallen. The Aggies are one of the top names in college softball right now, and Ford is capitalizing in a big way on that status.
