Texas A&M baseball has emerged from a heart-pounding series with the Penn Quakers without blemish, as unlikely as that seemed at times over the weekend. The Aggies won an emphatic game three on Sunday, knocking off the Quakers 7-1, on the strength of the bats of Nico Partida and others, as well as a stellar pitching effort.

After that showing, the Aggies have moved up yet another spot in the rankings, from 24 to 23. They are still ranked behind some teams, like Tennessee, who have lost series to lower-level teams— the Volunteers are coming off of a weekend where they dropped two out of three to Kent State— but there won't be major movement until the Aggies face off against a big time program.

Texas A&M baseball steadily moves up in college baseball top 25 after weekend sweep

Ole Miss makes an appearance in the rankings this week, adding yet another ranked team against which the Aggies will have to play a series. The bad news is that A&M will not get that series at home in Blue Bell Park— the good news is that it continues to highlight just how much of a gauntlet this year is going to be for the Ags, which should help them come selection time.

The first SEC series for Mike Earley's squad is going to be on the road at current no. 13 Oklahoma. We'll already have seen a little bit of what this Texas A&M team is capable of, as they will face no. 1 overall UCLA next weekend, but a three-game series is a different animal.

Texas A&M will play no. 11 Georgia at home before back to back series against unranked Missouri— which should be personal for this Aggie team— and Vanderbilt, who just dropped out of the rankings. The crowning event of the college baseball regular season calendar, of course, will be the return of Jim Schlossnagle to Blue Bell Park on the weekend of April 10— that's one that fans won't want to miss.

Trips to LSU and Florida follow, as well as a home series against Auburn, before the Ags close out with the aforementioned trip to Ole Miss and then a final series against Mississippi State.

That's 8 series against currently ranked teams, and 5 against current top-10 teams— compare that to the Longhorns, who only have 6 total series against currently-ranked teams, and 2 against current top-10 teams.

This won't be an easy climb for the Aggies, but they can make it to Omaha with this squad. We'll find out just what they're made of soon enough.
