48 hours after Texas A&M's loss to Michigan, talks are already heating up between one sneaky talented forward in the transfer portal.

While Texas A&M fans might need more time processing the round of 32 loss against Michigan, the athletic department is already moving on trying to get a potential steal.

Zhuric Phelps was described as the steal of the SEC in the transfer portal. Texas A&M basketball is looking to build off that momentum and get another guy in the portal who can help them out big time.

Amarri Monroe, formerly of Qunnipiac, made a giant leap in his sophomore season, and he plays just like a Buzz Williams golden child already.

Monroe choosing Texas A&M would fill wide open gap for Aggie basketball

With the Aggies losing plenty of guys to graduation, the NBA, etc, there's a clear wide open gap in the Aggie program for Buzz Williams to help fill.

Monroe is like a guard but is really a small forward. At Quinnipiac, Monroe had 12.9 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.8 SPG, 1.0 BPG in his first season with the Bobcats. Not to mention, he's also a spot-up shooter. Obviously, no Aggie fan dares to compare someone to Wade Taylor IV right away, but Monroe will at least help fill that hole that Taylor leaves right away.

Monroe would be starting material for Buzz: he can rebound and he's not afraid to sacrifice his body to make a defensive play.

The only bad news is that there are many schools looking to fill gaps that had veteran players as well like Creighton, Butler, Louisville and SMU. The Aggies would provide Monroe with a fresh start to compete in the toughest conference this season. This is also a perfect fit for Monroe to help an Aggie team make free throws and three-pointers on an Aggie team that really struggled in those areas.

This is a guy that the Aggies should definitely pursue. It won't be easy, but I think it's worth seeing this one out.
