Texas A&M basketball forward's legendary nickname is only gaining strength

The SEC Network broadcast team brought up Andersson Garcia's name in the same category as an NBA Hall of Famer, multiple times.

Texas A&M basketball was fortunate to see Wade Taylor IV come back from injury.

Taylor IV put up 12 points in his return, but once again, it was an ugly affair where Taylor IV's skills weren't desperately needed, as the offensive rebounds were once again dominated by the Aggies, 14-6 against the Tigers. The Aggies ended up beating the Tigers, 68-57.

Aggie big man Andersson Garcia, who's nickname has drawn a monster comparison to one of the best rebounders of all-time, stayed true to his identity as a menace on the boards against the Tigers. The SEC Network broadcasters mentioned Garcia multiple times in elite company.

Garcia drawing comparisons to Dennis Rodman as 'Dominican Rodman'

Garcia had drawn a comparison to Hall of Fame forward Dennis Rodman— not in the controversial type of way, but thanks to the way the Aggie forward is rebounding the basketball.

Garcia had five points, seven rebounds, one block and one steal. Though he's strong on the boards, Garcia doesn't need to be a dominant scorer like Shaq or Wemby. He just needs to do the dirty work to extend possessions for his teams. He plays that role pretty much every time he's out on the court, and that's what he did in the LSU win.

Buzz Williams had some words on the big men rebounding. After the debacle in the Alabama game, where the Aggies were out-rebounded to an obscene degree, Williams called this a project that was in the works. It looks like it ended successfully. Garcia was a major part of this part of the game too.

"The competitive maturity of our guys is other-worldly. When the ball was in the air, last week we didn't do the things that got us to this point. When Alabama shot it, they got it back 51 percent of the time. We've worked on it since then."
Buzz Williams

It was a great second half for the Aggies with the defense forcing the Tigers to commit 11 second-half turnovers.

Garcia as a player just causes disruptions: he rebounds, he defends, and he blocks shots. Not many players are up to the task to handle such specific duties, but Garcia is that guy, and the 'Dominican Rodman' nickname is only aging like fine wine every time.
