Texas A&M basketball has some high standards to live up to.

A way-too early prediction made by ESPN's Joe Lunardi put Texas A&M up high with some of the big dogs in the country.

A critical game over the weekend against Purdue will show us if this latest ranking has really been earned by the Aggies.

ESPN's Joe Lunardi has Texas A&M basketball at the four seed

Texas A&M was given the four seed in the East region by Lunardi.

This is thanks to their strong start in non-conference play, which Lunardi did mention in his own headlines.

He says the SEC is on track to have the best non-conference season in history. The Big East has that record back in the 2010-11 season.

As the fourth seed, the Aggies would play whoever the 13 seed is. By the time we hit March Madness, no fanbase can ever be too comfortable.

The Aggies have to keep proving their physicality on the court. It'll be hard for most teams to match their energy, especially when it comes to rebounding the ball.

The AP poll should give the Aggies some grace this season thanks to them being about to go through a gauntlet of an SEC race.

The Aggies can be a force in the SEC but getting through teams like Auburn and Tennessee will be tough.

The good news for everybody in the SEC is that everybody has the chance to beat everybody one way or another this season. It's just that competitive.

Considering the Aggies were entering the tournament as the nine seed last season, this would certainly be a vast improvement as to what they're showing the NCAA.
