Texas A&M basketball looks to have regained their midseason form after a four-game losing streak was snapped this past Tuesday. Following that historic victory over no. 1 Auburn came a series of special moments for one player in particular.
Wade Taylor IV has solidified his case among the all-time greats in Texas A&M basketball history in several ways this season. Things like a game-winner against a ranked Missouri team on the road, leading the Ags to their first-ever victory over a number one team, and breaking the all-time scoring record in school history are all massive additions to the man's portfolio.
And now, with the release of the postseason SEC honors, you can add another distinction to that pile as well.
Texas A&M basketball star Wade Taylor IV honored as first-team All-SEC performer
This year, the SEC is by far the best basketball conference in the land. It's no small task to land on an all-conference team, much less the first team. But that's exactly what the man who is possibly the best player in A&M history has done this year.
Wade Taylor IV was named as an All-SEC first-team performer in the league's postseason awards today. He is joined by Auburn's Johni Broome (a contender for the National Player of the Year award), Florida's Walter Clayton, Jr., Alabama's Mark Sears, and Tennessee's Zakai Zeigler.
Taylor is the only representation from Texas A&M basketball on any of the all-conference teams. This is maybe a bit of a snub, given that both Andersson Garcia and Solomon Washington had a solid case to be included on the all-defense team, but Taylor's spot is no doubt well-deserved.
It's hard to disagree with the notion that Taylor's strong close to the season was influential here. Hopefully, he continues that solid spate of play into the SEC and NCAA tournaments, lifting the Aggies to even greater heights in the postseason.
