The world of recruiting really moves according to different rules, apparently.

Texas A&M football has put together one of the top classes in the 2026 cycle, and has weathered some hard charges by other power programs in attempts to flip their commits. Many of the Aggie pledges have shut down their recruitments in response, such as what happened recently with Brandon Arrington and Tristian Givens, but programs remain in pursuit of many A&M commits.

It's not often that fans get a look behind the curtain at the wacky world of college recruiting, and especially so now with the increasing craziness we see in all quarters. Things just seem to keep escalating at a rapid pace in the recruiting game in this constantly-shifting landscape.

However, one A&M commit— a player that many fans were worrying about as a possible flip prospect— has shared some of the craziest recruiting stories he has... and they're just as wild as you might expect.

Texas A&M WR commit Madden Williams shares crazy recruiting story to show just how petty opposing programs can be in sabotage attempts

Madden Williams, an Aggie receiver commit from the west coast, spoke with Maxpreps recently about his craziest recruiting stories:

Look, there's underhanded, and then there's attempting to intentionally deceive a recruit in order to stop him from being able to make his visit to another school. I guess anything goes nowadays, but it also seems somewhat grimy to try to get a kid into a different car than the one he thought he was supposed to.

The wild part here is that Williams had to mentally file through other stories he had in his back pocket in order to figure out which he could even say on camera. That definitely implies to me that other schools that have been recruiting him— USC, FSU, and others— have been up to even crazier shenanigans than this.

Luckily, Williams has shut his recruitment down in favor of the Aggies, and is set to sign with the Maroon and White. This is quite the look behind the curtain, but it's comforting to know that he's steadfastly sticking with Mike Elko and company once signing day rolls around.
