Texas A&M is building one of the best classes in the entire nation for the 2027 cycle, something they have been working towards for quite some time. The Ags are in on many top prospects throughout the nation, and their current commitment class is good enough to rank 2nd in the country as of right now.
One of their first commitments came from in-state offensive lineman DeMarrion Johnson, an absolute mountain at tackle that was a great starting point for what looks to be a stellar offensive line class. However, a recent development has Aggie fans a bit worried about the possible future status of Johnson's commitment.
Johnson was spotted today down in Austin to take in the Longhorns' spring practice, something that is certainly a foreboding sign for his commitment to the Aggies. A visit doesn't equal a flip, of course, but this is something that Aggie fans should certainly take into consideration.
Texas A&M commit DeMarrion Johnson spotted in Austin visiting Longhorns
Johnson is a four-star offensive lineman on a trajectory to hopefully break to the top 150 prospects by the time he signs, and he's a guy that Adam Cushing and Mike Elko liked enough to put the full-court press on pretty early on in the cycle.
Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood clearly see the same value in Johnson, as they no doubt had to work hard to get the Aggie commitment to campus to check things out. This appears to be an unofficial visit, which means it's not quite them rolling out the red carpet, but it's not a good sign for the Aggies, certainly.
If there's a position where the Aggies could sustain a flip, it may be the offensive line, of course: Texas A&M is on the minds of three different five-star offensive line prospects, and already have several big names in the boat. If Johnson ends up liking what he sees in Austin more than in College Station, then the Aggies have several ways in which they could recover— but regardless, this is not what you want from a narrative standpoint, at the very least.
