The Texas A&M basketball team came in as one of the biggest jokes in SEC basketball for the past two weeks.

Since those last two weekends, games which could've been won by the Aggies, they've been hunted as a team that has been known to be talking more than competing.

Enter the number No. 1 team in the country in the Auburn Tigers, who fell last night at Reed Arena. It looked like the Aggies exposed the Tigers for one major reason, and it goes back to something we talked about weeks before the matchup.

Texas A&M vs. Johni Broome is a better matchup than most teams

Texas A&M basketball has plenty of guys to matchup with Johni Broome. Andersson Garcia, one of the hardest working Aggies finished with a double-double.

Broome's play has led to conversations about defensive awards but also the AP National Player of the Year. Since Broome has struggled mightily in the past couple of games, the talk has been rising more toward the Duke freshman Cooper Flagg, who now has a wide open shot at becoming the AP National Player of the Year.

Texas A&M basketball is known to have a bunch of tough guys inside, and without them, they'd have no chance against the No. 1 team in the country. While they don't have a Broome on offense or defense, the Aggies showed that they have multiple defenders who can matchup against the best in the SEC.

Texas A&M dominated on the glass like they always have, putting up a mark of 41-25 on the board.

Even though the Aggies took care of great teams like the Purdue Boilermakers this season, head coach Buzz Williams is about the best mentor any young kid could get. Williams also reminded us that the SEC tournament will be the likely time that we see Wade Taylor IV make Aggie history as the all-time leading scorer.
