Position battles to watch
CB - Who's opposite Ricks?
Dezz Ricks has the one cornerback spot pretty much on lock this upcoming season, but with Will Lee heading to the NFL, the big question is whether they can keep up that level of play on both sides fo the field. Rickey Gibson, Julio Humphrey, and Brandon Arrington will be battling to fill that role for the Aggies.
OL - Transfers or homegrown talent?
Mark Nabou is the only settled starter along the offensive line. Aside from him, the Aggies will have to figure out exactly how the rest shakes out. There are some young players who have waited their turns, like Lamont Rogers, Ashton Funk, Blake Ivy, and Tyler Thomas, and there are plenty of transfers that the Aggies brought in, like Wilkin Formby (Alabama), Tyree Adams (LSU), Coen Echols (LSU), and Trovon Baugh (South Carolina).
Some combination thereof will be anchoring the offensive front for the Aggies in this upcoming year. It's hard to not think this will be at least a slight step back, but if they are at least good, it could mean a lot for A&M in 2026.
DL - More turnover, steady results?
For the second-straight year, the turnover along the defensive front is something that will unnerve the Aggie faithful. After 2024, the Ags lost Shemar Stewart, Shemar Turner, Rodas Johnson, and Nic Scourton; after 2025, they're down Cashius Howell, Tyler Onyedim, Dayon Hayes, and Albert Regis.
Last season, it was a mix of returners and a couple of transfers who made up the starting lineup. It looks to be that way again, with returners DJ Hicks, TJ Searcy, and Marco Jones set to figure in prominently alongside transfers Anto Saka (Northwestern), Ryan Henderson (SDSU), CJ Mims (UNC), and Brandon Davis-Swain (Colorado).
