Texas A&M football continues to feed talent into other SEC teams via transfer portal

Texas A&M football's schedule next year will be chock-full of former Aggie defensive linemen, at this rate.

Yet another Texas A&M football DL transfers in-conference as Malick Sylla heads to Mississippi State

Even though Texas A&M football is mostly experiencing what fans would agree is positive attrition this portal cycle, the players on their roster keep ending up with teams that the Aggies will face on their schedule next year.

In the last few days, two defensive linemen from the 2022 recruiting class— which, of course, is one of the most wild recruiting cycles that Aggie fans have ever seen— have both transferred to in-conference foes. Not just any in-conference foes, either; teams that the Aggies will be playing next year.

First, it was former five-star Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy heading to South Carolina— who the Aggies will face off with in November. Then, today, Malick Sylla announced that he would be transferring to Mississippi State.

Though Sylla and Dindy were both highly-rated as recruits, neither was able to crack the rotation to a significant degree in their time with the Aggies. Dindy was plagued by injury, but Sylla simply was not as effective as many Aggie fans hoped he would be.

Of course, some of that likely has to do with the way he was used on the field— by former Aggie DC DJ Durkin in particular. Sylla was dropping back into coverage about half the time he was on the field under Durkin, which was a strange choice for a guy with his skillset.

Sylla will get his chance to face off with the Ags next year, as the Bulldogs visit Kyle Field. With the level of talent on MSU's roster, it wouldn't be surprising to see him as a starter for that game— and in that vein, storylines will be plentiful for that one.
