Texas A&M football has recruiting deja vu with low key but massive 2026 pickup

The Aggies just added another name to their stacked 2026 recruiting class, and it's one that bears a lot of similarities to a huge get from last year.

One of the most underrated pickups at the time of commitment for Texas A&M football last year was that of Arizona cornerback Jamar Beal-Goines. The speedster from out west was buried far down the recruiting rankings when he committed to the Aggies, but he ended the year as the top prospect in the state and just outside the top 100 overall recruits.

This was thanks in large part to his bona fide insane track times as a high school prospect. Beal-Goines was recording blistering speeds as a high schooler, and those verified times made him the object of attention from schools around the nationโ€” but the Aggies got in there first.

The Aggies are now seeing what may be a repeat of history with a commitment they picked up just today. Camren "Cam" Hamiel, another track star CB from the same school as Beal-Goines in Arizona, just committed to Texas A&M football.

The Aggies just continue adding talent in this already-highly-rated 2026 class with Hamiel's verbal today.

Hamiel is currently ranked as a four star and a top-250 overall recruit in the nation per the 247Sports Composite. His speed is an obvious premium trait in his game, but he may not yet be done climbing the rankings ladder.

As we saw with Beal-Goines last year, a commitment like this can draw a lot of attention from around the nation and cause a player's rating to skyrocket as scouts begin to break his game down more closely. That could indeed be in the near future for Hamiel, just as it was for Beal-Goines.

Even if not, though, the Aggies picked up a good one today. We saw the approach in the previous cycle of adding a lot of speed on the back end, and the Aggies have continued that positive trend with this commitment.
