There's been a lot of talk about Texas A&M's star-studded 2027 recruiting class— and deservedly so, given how they seem all but set to completely run away with the no. 1 overall ranking for this upcoming year. There is going to be a huge number of immediate contributors that come from this class, barring something entirely unexpected, and fans are already anxious to see them in the maroon and white.
There's been so much focus on that class, though, that some fans have forgotten how many difference-makers are on campus already for the Aggies. A recent list that just dropped from EA College Football 27, however, is serving to remind fans of just how significant the talent that the Aggies have on campus is.
There's been a good bit of ink spilled recently on just how elite the Aggies' top-rated recruit from the previous class, CB Brandon Arrington, is already turning out to be— something of a surprise, given that he was expected to be a bit of a project coming out of high school. However, Arrington, along with RB KJ Edwards, both make an appearance on the list of highest-rated freshmen in the game, signaling just how high the expectation is for them going into this upcoming season.

Arrington is tied for the second highest-rated freshman overall on this list, with Lamar Brown ranking as the first (a loss that still stings for many Aggie fans, but we'll see how things go for him under Lane Kiffin in Baton Rouge). Arrington is tied with Michigan RB Savion Hiter and Miami OL Jackson Cantwell (who had significant interest in the Aggies at one point) behind Brown.
Edwards is a smaller back, but you can't argue with the production he was able to put up in college. Video has already emerged of his physicality in practice, demonstrating that he belongs in an SEC backfield as much as any big, bruising runner might.
Edwards seems all but assured to get some snaps this upcoming season, but— surprisingly— it's not as sure that Arrington will. That has everything to do with the fact that the former five-star CB has such premium players ahead of him at the moment: Dezz Ricks, Rickey Gibson, and Julio Humphrey all are battling for corner spots, and the rotation there is not the same as at the running back spot.
There's no doubt that both of these players will be absolutely key for the Aggies going forward, but their production could begin as early as this season. Don't be surprised to see Edwards in a role similar to what we saw out of Jamarion Morrow last season, and Arrington could well crack the corner rotation if things go right for him. Hopefully, we see both of these guys begin to grow into their roles in the coming months.
