Texas A&M baseball entered the SEC tournament needing a miracle. A long, sustained miracle that would take place over the course of several days and into the weekend.
The Aggies' late-season slide meant that their roller coaster postseason prospects were at an all-time low at the conclusion of the regular season. That's unfortunate for a squad that clearly has as much talent as anyone in the nation, boasting series wins over Tennessee, Arkansas, and LSU.
Due to this reality, the Ags now have to make their way through a loaded field in Hoover before they can lay claim to any postseason dreams. Given the up and down nature of this team, that's one heck of a miracle needed.
Well, they're part of the way to that miracle becoming a reality. The Ags came into their weather-delayed contest against Mississippi State today and crushed the Bulldogs, triumphing 9-0.

The Aggies are now one step closer to their eventual goal of winning the SEC tournament and making the postseason. They've still got a long way to go, however.
Ryan Prager had a solid start and Jace LaViolette hit a grand slam for @AggieBaseball.

Before asking, it's my belief that A&M will need to get to Sunday to have a legitimate shot to make the field.
They've got a VERY long way to go. https://t.co/az1Lfw3Hxz
That's quite the mountain to climb. The Aggies will face off against Auburn next in another elimination match. Texas A&M and Auburn did not play in the regular season, but the Tigers spent part of the year as a top-10 squad and have looked like an absolute wagon at times.
It's a tall ask, but the Aggies got themselves in this position. The intrigue is that every fan can tell that they are more than capable of also getting themselves out of it when they're clicking.
If you can take anything away from that dominant win over the Bulldogs, it is that this team does indeed look like it's clicking. That's huge for their prospective run, of course, but there's more that's needed.
The path now is to beat the Tigers to get a chance at LSU. Beat them, and you will face off against, most likely, Arkansas. Then, things could become real— for now, though, it's one game at a time.
