Texas A&M just picked up their third linebacker commitment of the 2027 cycle, as massive New Jersey LB Mikahi Allen out of Don Bosco Prep has gone public with his pledge to the Aggies over Texas and South Carolina. Allen joins Aston Whiteside and Kaden Henderson as Texas A&M commitments at the position, making for an extremely promising three-man class in new LB coach Travis Williams’ first cycle with the Aggies.

Allen already stands at an SEC-ready 6’2” and 240 LBs, even as a rising high school senior. Though he has a ways to go when it comes to skill, his measurables are unquestionable— much like current team captain Daymion Sanford when he was coming out of high school.

That to say, while Allen may not be a day one starter the way that Kaden Henderson promises to be, he is a guy who addresses the massive need at the position that the Aggies had coming into this cycle. He will figure in prominently in the years to come in the middle of Texas A&M’s defense, without a doubt.

Texas A&M scores a huge victory over Steve Sarkisian and Texas with Mikahi Allen commitment

This was a big win for the Aggies after Texas had won the last few recruitments where Elko and Sarkisian had gone head to head. The Aggie head man had been cleaning up early on in the cycle, but the last few months saw Sark save some face— but this commitment reflects the way things have been for most of the year.

After Allen visited College Station earlier last month, he canceled a previously-planned visit down to Austin, so the Aggie faithful could see that there was a clear direction that this recruitment was trending in. South Carolina hoped to make a play here as well, but the Aggies weren’t going to let the Gamecocks win this one.

With this commitment, the Aggies now have an iron grip on the first-ranked overall class for this cycle with a couple more recruits still left to announce— and some possible flips towards the maroon and white looming as the season unfolds. As things stand, Texas A&M has the highest-rated class since Georgia’s 2024 group, which gives fans pretty high hopes for how things might shake out in the future.

The Aggies now await the commitment of players like Landen Williams-Callis, a prolific running back out of Richmond Randle High School, but this class, now at 26 commitments overall, is almost done. The Aggies have done a great job at having this one come together pretty quickly, and when you consider the caliber of the average prospect that A&M has landed, it’s even more impressive.
