Texas A&M just picked up maybe their biggest commitment yet of the 2027 cycle when five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson pledged to the Aggies earlier today. Mike Elko has elite players on campus from each position group right now, but a true-blue five-star linebacker is what he was missing— and exactly what he now has in Henderson.
This is part of a major move that the Aggies are making in the entire 2027 class, as they are tracking directly towards landing the top class in the cycle. The Aggies are building the foundation for a national championship right now, and adding players like Kaden only builds the momentum towards that.
In that vein, Henderson’s words on the Pat McAfee show right after he announced his commitment were exactly what every Aggie fan wanted to hear. Moments after pledging publicly to Texas A&M, he let everyone know just why this train can’t be slowed down.
Texas A&M propaganda goes national after Kaden Henderson’s announcement on Pat McAfee show
With a recruit of Henderson’s caliber, it’s no surprise a show like Pat McAfee would have him on to announce his commitment. Shortly after revealing that A&M was the choice, the elite linebacker and newest Aggie pledge had this to say about why he made this decision.
"It starts with Elko. I think he’s a great coach, he’s building something special in College Station, a dynasty I definitely want to be a part of… I think coach T-Will, the linebacker coach, is going to pour into me, really just help me flourish and get to the ultimate goal, the NFL, and be a first-round pick."Kaden Henderson
It doesn’t get much better than that, folks. This is the exact kind of messaging you want going out about your program from the highest echelon of recruit in the country, and he just blasted it out to everyone on a nationally-televised program.
The reality is that it’s pretty clear that Texas A&M is gaining this reputation among all of the top-level players throughout the nation. What Mike Elko and his staff have accomplished on the field throughout the first two years, especially last year, has had a resounding effect throughout the country, and that’s what’s helping build this class to the level that we are seeing.
Make no mistake: adding Henderson is a huge statement to the rest of the nation in and of itself, but it also helps to have recruits like this verbalizing this message. The success of the Aggies in this past year’s NFL draft has to help here, as he made sure to mention that as his ultimate goal.
The other thing that should be mentioned is the relationship he has with Travis Williams, the Aggies’ new linebacker coach hire. Williams came in with a reputation as a top recruiter, and it looks like we’re seeing the first fruits of that with this recruitment.
This is exactly the message you want out there about your program, and you can bet it’s resonating with some of the other top targets for the Aggies. Hopefully it helps tip some of these hotly-contested recruitments in the right direction over the next few days.
