Texas A&M’s 2024 College World Series run and Braden Montgomery’s injury currently constitute one of the biggest “what-ifs” in recent Aggie history. Montgomery was one of the best players on that Aggie team, and though Kaeden Kent filled in very admirably in his absence, many Texas A&M fans wonder if the Aggies could have won it all had Montgomery not been injured.
Of course, the downstream effects of that are manifold. Had the Aggies won, would Schlossnagle have stayed? Would that have driven off some of the players that the Aggies have seen on the diamond over the last few years, like Gavin Grahovac or Caden Sorrell?
We’ll never really know, but that fateful injury against Oregon has made Montgomery the object of speculation for quite some time around Texas A&M circles. Of course, that’s also due to his extremely high level of play when in the maroon and white, as this wouldn’t have been so much of an issue if he were a role player for the Aggies.
Though a one-year player in College Station, Montgomery made a huge impact after transferring over from Stanford. His power hitting and sure handed fielding had Aggie fans convinced that he would be a fixture in the majors when he eventually made the jump— and he just took the final step towards achieving that dream.
Aggie fans rejoice as Braden Montgomery finally called up to majors with Chicago White Sox
Montgomery has been working his way up in the White Sox organization since he was drafted (by the Red Sox before he was traded), and it looks like he is finally getting the call up that he so richly deserves:

The former All-American for the Aggies will no doubt soon be a fixture for the White Sox. His acumen and feel for the game will make him one of their top weapons on the roster, and his personality will make him just that much more of a fan favorite.

This is a heartwarming moment, not only for Braden, but for Aggie fans everywhere. There wasn’t a lot of good that came out of that 2024 season, but one thing that Texas A&M fans will always remember fondly is Montgomery’s year in the maroon and white.
