Texas A&M has just landed a commitment from class of 2027 receiver Jaden Upshaw, a top-100 player in the 247Sports Composite and one of the best in the country. Upshaw has been high on the Aggies for some time, with signs pointing this way for quite a while now, but the Aggies officially get him in the boat with today's announcement.

Upshaw is the first receiver commitment for Holmon Wiggins and this Aggie offense in the upcoming cycle, but he is quite the springboard as the Aggies eye other options to stack with his lethal skillset. Upshaw is one of the more surehanded playmakers in this class, and will reliably get open to move the chains while also threatening to take the top off of a defense with his speed.

Texas A&M adds dynamic 2027 receiver Jaden Upshaw to top-ranked 2027 recruiting class

The Aggies already had the no. 1 overall class for the upcoming cycle before Upshaw's commitment, despite a recent run from the Texas Tech Red Raiders, who just added former Aggie lean Kaden Henderson to their commitment list. With the Georgia receiver in the boat, however, the Ags maintain a comfortable lead for the no. 1 spot.

Texas A&M could well end up there at the end of the cycle with the way things are trending. There are multiple more five-star players that the Aggies are the chief competition for, and this momentum could carry them towards adding those names to the commit list sooner rather than later.

This is quite the way to start off the receiver class for the Aggies, but they won't be done any time soon. IMG Academy receiver Eric McFarland, a five-star player and teammate of Texas A&M commit Zyron Forstall, also has Texas A&M high on his list, so don't be surprised if he joins Upshaw soon as a commitment.
