Texas A&M baseball is coming off of a weekend sweep of the Elon Phoenix, starting off the Michael Earley era with a 3-0 mark. After a close opening game, the rest of the weekend was nothing if not emphatic, led by Jace LaViolette's multiple homers, including a grand slam.
There was some worry coming into the weekend, however, after news broke of an injury to a key player. Caden Sorrell, a sophomore who featured prominently in last year's national runner-up team, was set to be sidelined for the "foreseeable future", according to the head coach.
However, where some saw reason for concern, this team saw an opportunity. This is a squad that is nothing if not completely stacked, and some of the young talent on campus would get a chance to shineβ and that's exactly what Aggie legacy Terrence Kiel, Jr., did.

TK entered the starting lineup for the Aggies in the first action the team has seen since he stepped on campus, but he played like a three-year veteran. According to the head coach, Kiel didn't let the moment get too big for him, which was no surprise to Earley and company.

As a result, Kiel earned honors as the co-freshman of the week in the most talented league in the sport. That's some high praise, especially considering it was his first action at the collegiate level.

If this is a sign of things to come for the Aggies and TK, then the Maroon and White faithful better start getting excited. We were all aware of his talent level coming in, but the polish he showed over this weekend series was magnificent. Here's hoping we see a lot more from TK in the very near future.
