Texas A&M came into this portal cycle in dire need of some reinforcements along the interior of their defensive line, and while the Aggies have done a great job thus far in addressing the line overall, most of their attention has been along the edge with the additions of Anto Saka and Ryan Henderson.
They have one interior player committed in former Colorado DL Brandon Davis-Swain, but there is more yet to be done at that spot. The Aggies are working to bring in Illinois nose guard Angelo McCullom for a potential reunion with kicker commit David Olano, but the Aggies are now reportedly hosting a player who would be an instant-impact guy and surefire starter barring something unforeseen.
According to Chris Hummer of CBS Sports, the Aggies have a massive visitor in town today in former North Carolina defensive tackle CJ Mims. Texas A&M could be the perfect landing spot for Mims if they can close out this deal— and you can bet for a player of this caliber and experience, the Aggies will be working hard.

He posted 42 tackles and two sacks this season along with a 69.7 PFF grade. https://t.co/MXUx9JZ7A4 pic.twitter.com/0hZnadEJ2r
Mims is a guy with the skillset to fit exactly what the Aggies need for a true one-technique tackle. DJ Sanders is the guy on the roster for Texas A&M who the Aggies hope can eventually develop into a high-end player with this skillset, but for right now, he's still growing into that role— Mims would fill that need immediately.
He comes out of North Carolina with one year of eligibility remaining and a heck of a lot of experience under his belt. That's extremely valuable along the defensive line, and though he may have been somewhat misused at UNC, the Aggies and Elijah Robinson would no doubt put him in a great position to succeed.
Better late than never. CJ Mims ( @CJMims2 ) has entered the portal. He balled out last season showing his strength & physicality to collect 42 total tackles. Check out film below @BIPsList https://t.co/yiix6nkLog

Snag Mims to go along with McCullom and Davis-Swain, and the Aggies are once more deep at defensive tackle. The ripple effect here would be a huge benefit, as this would open things up better for a guy like DJ Hicks. This could be a really impactful signing if the Aggies can close things out.
