Texas A&M's road game accomplishment is historic conference achievement

This seemed impossible at the beginning of the year, but now it's a reality.

Texas A&M has become the first SEC team in the last 13 years to win three straight road conference games in a row with their win over Missouri. The Aggies are one of very few teams to win back to back conference road games at all during that span, one of only ten teams to face three straight road conference games at all, and— of course— the only one to win all three.

The last team to achieve this feat, interestingly enough, was... Texas A&M's 2012 team, led by Johnny Manziel. The Aggies only lost two games that year, both of which were at home, but they were road warriors for nearly the entirety of Kevin Sumlin's first two seasons in College Station.

Those wins came over a hapless Auburn team, and then two ranked squads in Mississippi State and eventual national champion Alabama, both in early November. Unlike these 2025 Aggies, there was no intervening bye week for A&M during that time, which makes it even more impressive.

Since that point, this kind of gauntlet has been faced by a few different teams. The next year, South Carolina played Arkansas, Tennessee, and a top-five Missouri on the road: they lost on their trip to Rocky Top. Then, it wasn't until 2017 Auburn that another team faced this kind of stretch: they lost to LSU in Death Valley before beating Arkansas and Texas A&M (with a bye in between the last two).

In 2018, both Texas A&M and Vanderbilt faced a stretch like this: the Aggies beat South Carolina before losing to Mississippi State and Auburn, while the Commodores lost to Kentucky, beat Arkansas, and lost to Missouri.

Then, in 2019, both Auburn and Missouri faced a three-game stretch on the road in conference. The Tigers lost to Florida, smoked Arkansas, and then fell just short of a win against eventual national champion LSU. Missouri lsot every game in their three-game stretch against Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Georgia.

LSU technically had a stretch like this in 2020, but it was due to games being rescheduled: they lost to Auburn, then had two weeks off before defeating Arkansas and losing to Texas A&M. Finally, Auburn had a stretch like this last year, traveling to Georgia, Missouri, and Kentucky, losing the first two games but winning the last.

Then, we have the Aggies' three-game stretch this year. Not only were two of these teams ranked, but one of the games was at LSU— one of the hardest road environments in the nation. In both of the final two instances, the Aggies handed the team they beat their worst loss of the season, by a large amount.

This is a remarkable achievement for this Texas A&M football team. I said all summer that, were they to emerge from Death Valley undefeated, I would know that they are a national title contender. Now, we see that they are one of the most prominent of those contenders in the entire country.
