Texas A&M fans have taken some gut punches on the recruiting trail in recent days, but one announcement coming soon will have the Aggie faithful tuning in with a great deal of hope. Five-star receiver Eric McFarland is set to go public with his college commitment tomorrow afternoon, and Texas A&M fans are feeling unassailably optimistic about their chances.

McFarland has been high on the Aggies for quite some time, but when Texas A&M hosted him on an official visit at the end of June, it seemed like it would be nigh impossible for any other team to overcome the lead that they had built. Even after taking some visits to other heavy hitters like Georgia, Ohio State, and Tennessee, the Aggies still stood out for McFarland.

With now hours to go until McFarland announces his commitment, it looks like it's the Aggies that are in the driver's seat for this dynamic receiving talent. Barring a last-second charge from another program, Texas A&M fans will be celebrating another big commitment at this time tomorrow.

Texas A&M trending heavily for 5-star Eric McFarland ahead of June 28 commitment

McFarland is rated as the no. 38 player in the nation via the 247Sports Composite, but he is ranked as the 17th player in the nation per ESPN's rankings. That's a five-star rating in the aforementioned Composite, but he's rated as a high four-star talent by both Rivals and 247, which slot him at 58th overall and 66th overall, respectively.

His small stature at 5'8" and 176 LBs shouldn't concern Texas A&M fans— he's very much in the mold of a Mario Craver type of talent, who is a guy that easily stands up to the SEC grind. The player comparison for him on his Rivals page is former Purdue receiver Rondale Moore, who was positively electric during his time in college.

The Aggies could utilize McFarland in a number of ways, as he is extremely versatile as a player— with his skillset, they will try to get the ball in his hands in any way possible. This is a true offensive weapon with some Swiss Army Knife potential for Holmon Wiggins' offense.

The Aggies are the runaway leader right now for McFarland in his Recruiting Prediction Machine, with an apparent 95% chance to commit to them. Ohio State is in second place with a measly 1.5% chance of committing to the Buckeyes.

There's a consensus among experts as well, with five predictions on his page for him to commit to the Aggies, ranging from March all the way up to about nine days ago. It looks like the Aggies are the team to beat right now for his commitment— and despite the Ohio State and Georgia brands looming large, no one is close to catching up to the Aggies.
