Texas A&M unexpectedly losing senior defender to injury after only one game back

This was a blow that no Aggie fan saw coming after last week.

After only one Texas A&M football player landed on the "Out" list for Wednesday's injury report, another key player has unexpectedly joined as of Thursday night. Le'Veon Moss was the only name listed on the initial report, which was expcted given the most recent injury update we had about him, but now Bryce Anderson is listed as "Out" for the Aggies as well.

There is no space on these availability reports for the particular ailment or reason a player is out or questionable to be listed, so it's hard to say exactly why Anderson landed back on the list. It could be something that happened in practice, or it could be some kind of lingering effects from his previous injury— one suffered at Notre Dame that kept him out for three weeks.

This is certainly a blow to the Aggies' depth in the defensive backfield, where they've been thin at safety. We saw a little more run out of redshirt freshman Myles Davis this last game, so he may figure in more so as things move along.

Senior safety Bryce Anderson moves from available to out for Texas A&M vs Arkansas

The encouraging thing, if there is anything, is that the safety unit played quite well when Anderson was out last time. They didn't face a passing unit as formidable as what Arkansas has put together in terms of yardage (though Mississippi State will certainly stress you down the field), but Marcus Ratcliffe and Dalton Brooks filled in nicely while Anderson was out.

Another positive note is that freshman tight end Kiotti Armstrong is not listed on this report, meaning he has been moved up to "available" status. Though he may not get many snaps, it's good to see that he's recovered from whatever is ailing him.

Every Aggie hopes the same for Bryce, as he's one of the most visible players on the Aggie defense. Hopefully, he bounces back quickly— we should get more information, at the very latest, in Mike Elko's postgame press conference on Saturday.
