Texas A&M basketball fans will have to get up early to enjoy what should be an extremely competitive contest between the Aggies and the Volunteers.

This was circled as one of the most important regular season games for Texas A&M. This is a marquee win opportunity for the Aggies, and they have to show up after a disappointing loss against Mississippi State earlier in the week.

The game within the game features two players from each respective squad who show heart, resilience and veteran leadership.

Wade Taylor IV vs. Zakai Zeigler is must-see TV

Wade Taylor IV is about to be in the books as potentially the greatest player the Aggies have ever seen on the hardwood, as he will soon surpass Bernard King as the all-time leading scorer in school history.

His shooting, clutch play and overall greatness needs to be appreciated for now, because who knows if the Ags are going to get a guy like Taylor IV ever again.

Back to business -- Taylor IV will go up against defensive pest Zakai Zeigler, as what should be an tight battle between great offense and great defense. Zeigler can put up points too, but his defensive awareness is number one on his resume.

Zeigler won the SEC Defensive Player of the Year award last season, and he only continues to rack up honors, making his resume one of the best in Tennessee history, but it's the loyalty of both guys that stuck with their program in the transfer portal era.

"He's a vet, he's seen it all. He's seen the good, the bad and the ugly. He's very patient, he knows his team, he's like the quarterback."

Taylor is exactly what Zeigler is, but it's the two competitive guys in a top 10 matchup that makes this matchup the game within the game. It reminds us how thankful we should be to get ultra competitive matchups like this.
