Rivalry week is upon us and we've got a doozy of a venture happening down in Austin, Texas, as the undefeated Aggies have a massive showdown with the 9-3 Texas Longhorns under the Friday night lights. This game always has plenty on the line, but the stakes could not be higher this time around — so let's check in on some of the bigger storylines surrounding this heavyweight battle.

Perfection ... with an exclamation point

Mike Elko's crew is just one game away from its first perfect regular season since 1992 and has plenty on the line with it, including a trip to the SEC title game with essentially a guarantee to secure a first-round bye in the College Football Playoffs. To make things even more exciting, they have a chance to achieve all that against their biggest rival in the sport.

Texas has not met its preseason expectations, losing three regular season games after being tabbed as the best team in the sport, but it's still one of the more talented rosters in the sport and will make for a great challenge as the Aggies look to write the final chapter in the book of their perfect regular season.

A win over your rival is great, no matter the stakes, but there's plenty of recent history to make this game matter all that much more. Texas was the very same team that kicked the Aggies out of both the conference title game and College Football Playoff a season ago.

While the Aggies won't have a shot at kicking their rivals out of anything this time around— the Longhorns have already taken care of that themselves— the chance to use this game to punch a ticket to everything worthwhile in the postseason is icing on the cake.
