The one breakout Texas A&M player emerging in fall camp shouldn’t surprise any Aggie

Former five-star Terry Bussey is a player that Aggie fans have been watching closely since the moment he stepped foot on campus. Bussey was the crown jewel of Mike Elko’s initial class as the Aggies’ head coach, and he saw time on the field immediately, as many predicted— but he hasn’t quite been a player who’s had a massive impact yet.

Part of that is learning a new position, of course— Bussey was a do-it-all player for Timpson High School and was therefore designated an athlete by most recruiting services. The Aggies slotted him at receiver right away, thanks to his electric ability with the ball in his hands— but he’s been learning the finer points of the position ever since after never being there full-time.

Going into his third year as a receiver, though, Bussey is clearly beginning to blossom, even after a spring camp injury. Though it will be tough to break through the lineup ahead of him— Isaiah Horton, Mario Craver, and Ashton Bethel-Roman will be hard to unseat— it’s becoming impossible to deny that he is by far the favorite to be the breakout player of fall camp.

Terry Bussey’s fall camp has Texas A&M fans dreaming big about his 2026 potential

The Aggie receiver was catching eyes in a big way over this weekend when the official social media accounts for Texas A&M put out this clip of a highlight catch he made on a throw from Brady Hart:

That’s a very different looking play than we’ve seen from him in his first two years in the maroon and white— though he’s always a threat to break a big run when the ball gets into his hands, he’s not shown these kind of skills with the ball in the air up until this point. This shows his maturation and growth as a receiver specifically— which could mean huge things for this Texas A&M offense.

If we see a fully-fledged Terry Bussey in an Aggies uniform this upcoming season, it could transform the Aggie receiver rotation, and therefore the entire offense. He has shown the ability to play both inside and outside (though Bussey is not the tallest guy, the similarly-sized KC Concepcion did something similar) and could really provide A&M a lot of options at both spots.

The Aggies had an extremely deadly passing attack last year with just KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, and no true X receiver— if the Aggies have two similarly deadly smaller guys this year in Craver and Bussey with Isaiah Horton as the X, it will be nigh impossible to stop their passing attack.

Fans hoping for an outcome like this have a lot of reason to be happy, too— it seems almost unanimous from insiders that Bussey is the guy that has impressed the most so far in fall camp:

There’s a great chance that Bussey emerges as one of the most improved players on this Aggie squad from the offseason, and if that’s what happens, it will mean huge things for this A&M team. Hopefully, this isn’t just a flash in the pan— if it’s sustained success, the sky is the limit for no. 6 and for this Aggie team.
