The upcoming commitment that every single Texas A&M fan is sleeping on

While Texas A&M football fans are rightly excited about the five-star decisions that are coming up, they shouldn't neglect this one.

Texas A&M fans are excited about where their recruiting class is trending at the moment, with several big decisions set to come down the pike very soon. The Aggies will find out where five-star offensive lineman Albert Simien is committing tomorrow (though that one seems to be trending away from the Aggies), and not long after, five-star receiver Eric McFarland will go public with his decision.

Days later, the nation's no. 2-ranked cornerback, Joshua Dobson, will announce his collegiate decision. There's a lot coming down the pike for the Aggies— but amidst all of this five-star excitement, Texas A&M fans are forgetting about another announcement that has been on the docket for some time now.

The Aggie faithful were ecstatic to land Kaden Henderson over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish last week, adding him to a current two-man linebacker class that also includes Aston Whiteside. What many Aggie fans have forgotten, however, is that there is another stud linebacker set to commit soon, as Mikahi Allen out of Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey has a July 11 date on the calendar— and the Aggies look like the team to beat.

Texas A&M fans shouldn't sleep on Mikahi Allen's upcoming commitment amidst five-star excitement

If Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey sounds familiar, it should: the Aggies only three years ago went up to that very school to win out for a very recent second-round NFL Draft pick in Chase Bisontis. No doubt having that connection worked in Texas A&M's favor here, as they look to be in the lead spot for Allen.

Texas A&M is the leader in the clubhouse for Allen in the Recruiting Prediction Machine, sitting at an 86% likelihood with Rutgers a distant second, at only 4%. Though Rivals and 247 are not the highest on Allen, ESPN's ratings have him very high— all the way up at 58th in the country and the 5th in the nation at his position.

The Aggies were actually locked in a battle with Texas for Allen's signature very recently, but after visiting College Station, Allen decided to call off his previously-scheduled trip to Austin. That's about as loud of a signal as you can give, and it certainly pleased Texas A&M fans.

Allen boasts a college-ready frame, already standing at 6'2" and 240 pounds, according to his profile on On3. He's clearly ready to step in and be an SEC linebacker, which the Aggies will need in a big way after this year.

If Allen were to jump in the boat and join Kaden Henderson and Aston Whiteside, it would make for quite the intimidating triumvirate of linebackers in Texas A&M's class. While all the excitement around Simien, McFarland, and Dobson is going on over the next week or so, don't forget about this other big time commitment that fans should be watching closely.
